Camps

Summer camp is a special part of growing up. In fact, more than six million American kids go to camp each summer.

Ask kids why they want to go to camp and you're likely to hear the same two words: fun and friends. But when you dig deeper, you quickly discover that certain types of camps may work better for your child. There are hundreds of programs and Judy Macnow can help you find the right one.

Traditional Camps

Roasting marshmallows, campfires, ghost stories, color war—are all memories associated with the traditional overnight camp. They vary in style, from structured to low-key, and offer accommodations from rustic to plush. Camps are located throughout the country and situated in all types of terrian, from the mountains to the beach. Although the programs vary greaty, most traditional overnight camps offer perennial favorites—sports, arts and crafts, and spirit activities.

Some camps have been around for many years, and attract generations within the same family. Still, traditional camps have evolved over the yers and activities have grown. These camps continually update their offerings and equipment to keep the balance of the familiar and the new.

A traditional overnight camp usually has a range of actvities throughout the day. Children have a set schedule with free time and a choice of new activities. They are encouraged to try new things. Most camps have theme weeks and camp-wide activities like color war. The camps establish traditions that returning campers come to expect: cheer competitions, Friday night barbeques, Saturday night bonfires, dances, talent shows and more. Sessions can range from two to eight weeks and many campers return the same time every year.

Is traditional camp for you? A traditional overnight camp is great for the first time camper, or the child who prefers a familiar atmosphere and enjoys traditions. Many children love their traditional sleepway camps and return year after year. If you are considering a traditional overnight camp let us review the options with you and help determine which is your best choice.
